My Why 💜

Last year, my family received the difficult news that my 81-year-old mum had been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's. It has been an incredibly worrying and overwhelming time for us all as we navigate this new reality.

During the hardest moments, we found an absolute lifeline in the Admiral Nurses. They have been there to answer my endless questions, offer practical advice on managing different aspects of her care, and - perhaps most importantly - help me process the complex emotions and guilt that can come with needing to use services like a care home. I honestly don't know what we would have done without their support.

To give back to the charity that held our hands when we needed it most, I’m taking on a challenge! This October, I will be walking 62 miles to raise awareness and vital funds for this incredible cause.

Of course, I won't be doing it alone -the Helston Happy Hounds pack will be racking up the miles right alongside me across Cornwall. 🐾🥾

Every step we take is for my Mum, Great Unlce Bill, and to ensure that other families facing dementia have access to the amazing support of an Admiral Nurse.
