I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK For Nan & Grandad <3
💜 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK 💜
This September, my 8-year-old son Robin and I will be walking 30 miles for Dementia UK.
This challenge is deeply personal to us.
In September 2025, we sadly lost my Nan, Robin's beloved Nan-Nan, to dementia. Like so many families affected by this cruel disease, we experienced first-hand the heartbreak of watching someone we love slowly change through dementia.
Our journey with dementia did not end there.
Robin's Grandad-Grandad, my Grandad, is currently living in a care home with dementia. Every day, we see the impact this condition has not only on the person living with it, but on the family who loves them.
One of my favourite memories is from 2018, when my Nan and Grandad celebrated 60 years of marriage. Sixty years of love, memories, family, laughter and life together. Dementia may affect memories, but it can never take away the love and legacy they built over those six decades.
When I told Robin I was taking part in the challenge, he didn't hesitate to join me. In his words:
"I'm walking 30 miles with my mum because dementia took my Nan-Nan to the Stars, my Grandad-Grandad is living with dementia in a care home. I want to help other people going through the same thing.
Every mile we walk is for them. Thank you for supporting us."
❤️ Robin, aged 8
Every mile we walk will be for Nan-Nan, for Grandad-Grandad, and for every family facing the challenges of dementia.
If you would like to support us, we would be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small.

I wanted to share a personal update. </3
On Sunday, we sadly lost my Grandad after his battle with dementia.
When Robin and I signed up to walk 30 miles in September for Dementia UK, it was already a cause very close to our hearts. We were walking in memory of my Nan, who we lost to dementia in September 2025, and in support of my Grandad, who was living with the disease.
Now, this challenge has taken on an even deeper meaning for our family. Within the space of a year, we have lost both my Nan and my Grandad to dementia. Watching the people you love be affected by this cruel disease is heartbreaking, and sadly it is an experience shared by far too many families.
Every mile we walk this September will be in memory of them both. For their love, their strength, and the incredible legacy they leave behind. We will also be walking for every family currently facing the challenges of dementia and in support of the amazing work that Dementia UK does.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far through donations, kind messages and encouragement. Your support means more to us now than ever. ❤️
This walk is for Nan-Nan and Grandad-Grandad. Always. 💜

Thank-you So Much!!
Monday 3rd Aug💜 Thank You So Much 💜
Wow. We are completely overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity.
When Robin and I signed up to walk 30 miles for Dementia UK, we set an initial fundraising target and hoped we might reach it by September. Thanks to the incredible support of family, friends, colleagues, and our local community, we smashed our first target and then our second target in no time at all.
The support we've received has meant so much to us.
This challenge is in memory of my Nan, Robin's beloved Nan-Nan, who we sadly lost to dementia in September 2025, and in support of my Grandad, Robin's Grandad-Grandad, who is currently living with dementia in a care home. Knowing that so many people have donated in their honour is incredibly moving.
When I told Robin that we had already reached not one, but two fundraising targets, his face was priceless. He was completely shocked and his response was simple but heartfelt:
❤️ "Thank you everyone!" ❤️
Those three little words say everything.
Every donation, message of support, share, and word of encouragement helps motivate us as we take on this challenge together. More importantly, it helps Dementia UK continue supporting families facing the daily realities of dementia.
We have now increased our fundraising target once again, and if anyone else would like to support us, we would be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Every pound raised will help Dementia UK continue its vital work supporting people living with dementia and the families who care for them.
